In Attendance: Dr. Greco, Kathy Judge, Bob Loughney, Susan Cummings, Trish Mayro, Heather Lynch & Sheila Boucher.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Fundraising: Heather reported that Candy fundraiser had less participation than expected; believe it was due to deadline and inclement weather affecting that deadline. 33 families participated with a profit of $697.40. Will keep this fundraiser for next year, however, as many people like it. Next year, we will do the KidStuff fundraiser in the Fall as well as Entertainment Books (order 50 of the Entertainment Books and see how well they sell in addition to the KidStuff). Heather researched the cost of tote bags-Zenak family will do printing on totes with ICS logo. All agreed we will order 2 dozen of the small totes and 4 dozen of the medium sized. 1 dozen will go to the 12 8th grade parents who are leaving and the rest will go for general sale. Will give parents of 8th grade graduates who have their last child graduating a tote bag with a magnet and a T-shirt, and possibly a mug as gift at Fine Arts Festival.

Children’s Programs: 1st day of “Overtime Athletics” program; feedback included that program not as structured as we thought and dismissal of students somewhat disorganized. At present, 5 sessions are left in the Overtime Athletics program. Children did have fun, however and exercised which was the goal. Discussed having Mr. Rokan doing similar program for students; Dr. Greco spoke with him about this. Susan will give Mr. R a packet of information on Overtime Athletics program and see if he can have a program in the summer. Will have ICS summer brochure redone to include his program for the summer if he agrees.

Treasurer: Trish contacted Ellen Mahoney about amount made on Spirit Wear; Ellen will get back to us. Trish will have the total amount of monies we made for this year at next meeting.

CURRENT BUSINESS:

Home & School General Meeting April 14: New families will be coming so attendance is expected to be high; will hold in the Church Hall. Dr. Greco and Monsignor will welcome new families from closing schools who may be coming to ICS and Ellen Mahoney will present on finances and tuition. There will also be a performance of Godspell by God’s Voice and Choral Group. Used uniform sale will be held as well in Cafeteria.

Welcoming New Families: Discussed having some type of welcoming celebration for new families; perhaps a bar-b-queue in September. Will continue to plan at next meetings.

Fine Arts Festival: Scheduled for May 26th. We announce newly elected members of H&S board and we also recognize parents who have their last child graduating in the 8th grade. Board members must be in attendance. Discussed gifts for these parents; in past have given flowers. This year we will ask what team color family is (blue or white) and give parents canvas tote with a T-shirt, magnet and perhaps a mug. Total number of parents getting gift is 12. Heather will order tote bags. Will finalize plans at next meeting.

Spirit Night: Scheduled for 5/21/10 (Friday night at 7PM-8PM). Will have an ice cream social instead of customary pizza party. Will have ice cream, toppings and water. We will charge 5$ per family. Program is only 1 hour so may have a craft as well but may not be necessary. Will have outside, weather permitting. Sheila will make and send out flyer for this. All board members will help with obtaining needed items and help serve and set up and clean up. Will finalize plans at next meeting.

Elections: This year, the following positions are open for elections; President-Elect, Secretary and Children’s Programs. Many nominations have come in; Sheila will call nominees to see if they accept nomination then send voting ballots out. We will have those positions elected by May board meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS:

Free Tag Day from Gianni’s sale; many people have asked about this; rescheduled for 4/29/10. Those who sold the required amount will have a free tag day, those who didn’t will make their donation and it will go to Catholic Charities fund; teachers will be given list of students who sold the required amount.

Color Day: Susan said she is able to handle this event; if anyone wants to help they can.

Rules of the Road for Kids

  • 1. Guard your privacy. What people know about you is up to you.
  • 2. Protect your reputation. Self-reflect before you self-reveal. What’s funny or edgy today could cost you tomorrow.
  • 3. Nothing is private online. Anything you say or do can be copied, pasted, and sent to gazillions of people without your permission.
  • 4. Assume everyone is watching. There’s a huge, vast audience out there. If someone is your friend’s friend, they can see everything.
  • 5. Apply the Golden Rule. If you don’t want it done to you, don’t do it to someone else.
  • 6. Watch the clock. A virtual hug never matches a real one. Balance your life.
  • 7. Choose wisely. Not all content is appropriate. You know what we mean.
  • 8. Don't hide. Using anonymity to cloak your actions doesn’t turn you into a trustworthy, responsible human being.
  • 9. Think about what you see. Just because it’s online doesn’t make it true.
  • 10. Be smart, be safe. Not everyone is who they say they are. But you know that.
